The Butterfly Project Foundation was born from a mother’s love and a family’s journey through the unimaginable. Our heart belongs to BreAunna Hill, a beautiful soul we lost to suicide on July 21, 2019. BreAunna fought a brave battle with mental illness, a struggle intensified by a severe head trauma she suffered in a car accident in 2016. In our darkest hour, a butterfly with broken wings appeared outside our home. My son placed it in my hand, and I told BreAunna: "Even with broken wings, you can still find a way to fly." In that moment of crisis, the butterfly became our family's symbol of hope and a powerful metaphor for resilience.
Initially, the Butterfly Project Foundation was a way for me to process the immeasurable loss of my daughter. Now, it has grown into something far-reaching—The Butterfly Effect. This principle reminds us that even the smallest act of kindness or creation can generate profound, widespread change in our interconnected world.
To maximize our impact, I became a Certified Cognitive Behavior & Grief Art Life Coach. This unique expertise enables me to understand and apply how art and art therapy can stimulate healing and growth for everyone—from children and teens to adults and individuals with special needs.
Our methodology focuses on:
Through vibrant, large-scale butterfly art installations and murals, we bring moments of visual wonder directly to the community. These pieces are more than just art; they are catalysts for connection. They serve as a deeply meaningful, shared experience that honors the past while beautifying our public spaces.
We believe that creative expression is a fundamental human right and a vital bridge to emotional recovery. Our vision is to create a world where no one has to navigate the "long migration" of grief or trauma in isolation.
Through our public installations and evidence-based workshops, we aim to:
We envision a future where every "broken wing" is met with a supportive swarm, and every community has a permanent "Mosaic of Strength" to remind them of their collective power to heal.
"Because even with broken wings, you are meant to fly."

The Butterfly Project Foundation turns the 'long migration' of grief into a shared journey of creative resilience and community connection.
